Falklands Airport Construction 1983-85
After the 1982 Falklands War it was decided to build a new airfield and garrison for UK troops. The runway was to be capable of taking full sized commercial jet aircraft but , due to the politics of the time after the war, every piece of equipment and personnel had to come from the UK, by boat or air. This film, on which I was one of the main cameramen, charts the entire operation from start to finish. It was completed in 80 weeks with work starting in late 1983. A consortium was created of Laing, Mowlem and Amey construction to complete the task.
