Bladder Cancer Overview
Bladder cancer is the second most common GU cancer in the US, more commonly affecting males than females. In the US, the predominant histology for bladder cancer is urothelial carcinoma. For non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (stage I) the standard treatment is transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) followed by intravesical therapy for intermediate and high risk patients. For muscle-invasive bladder cancer (stage II or higher), patients can either be managed with perioperative chemoimmunotherapy and cystectomy or with bladder preservation using chemoradiotherapy. In this talk, we discuss an overview of bladder cancer presentation, workup, staging, and management, addressing details of each of these treatment paradigms. This presentation is created purely for educational purposes and does NOT constitute medical advice. If there are any errors or questions/concerns, we welcome comments and discussion!
