Merry Christmas!! 😍😁🥰🎄💞🤗 If not this year, I’m sure there was a time when you really, really wanted something for Christmas and would’ve done almost anything to get it. Maybe it was a really special toy you wanted as a little kid (or as a big kid😏😅😎😉), or maybe it was getting the chance to visit with someone you love. 💕 We've all seen the movies and know that Christmas is not supposed to be about just getting the stuff you want, but this song has a certain uniqueness and charm to it, since it's not about wanting a thing, but a person, and the singer is willing to put aside all else for the sake of the one they love and desire most. (In this case, Adrien for Marinette. 😉💞🥰) Have you ever wondered what God wants for Christmas? After all, he's the main reason this holiday was started in the first place. For years part of my family's Christmas tradition was to read a book that came with seven little boxes and each kid (there's eight of us now 😏😅😎) would get a turn to open a box and inside were little figures that went along with the Christmas story my dad would read. The last box was titled "what God wants for Christmas" and inside is a mirror, because - guess what? All God wants for Christmas is you! 💖🎄🎁 It may seem crazy to think that God - the creator of the universe, with endless power and matchless glory - would care to even notice you and me - tiny humans without much to offer - but he went way beyond that and loves you so much that he was willing to die so you could live. Years ago, God gave the first Christmas gift by sending his son Jesus to die in our place and take the punishment for our sins so we could have the promise of everlasting life in heaven with him and be free from the brokenness and pain of this world. But Jesus didn't come to this earth just because he thought it would make him look like a hero, he came because he loves you - personally, individually, and he wants to be with you through all of your joys and struggles. He thinks you are beautiful, wonderful, a masterpiece crafted by his own hands, and you are incredibly precious to him. Jesus was willing to give up everything - his comfort, his status, his home, even his life just to save you, and he rose again (came back to life) proving that he has power to change your life and conquer death. Just in case you need to be reminded, you are a gift to the world just by being you💞 But you may be wondering - how can you give yourself to God? Isn't that a little creepy or impossible? No.✨ Giving yourself to God doesn't mean pledging your life to follow after some cult and do strange rituals, what it means is to simply accept the gift he has already offered to you and live the rest of your life in thanks to him. 💗 The Bible says we are all sinners, we all do bad things, and this sin separates us from God who is holy and perfect. Because of our sin we won't be able to get to heaven on our own no matter how good we are. Unlike Santa's naughty list, one good deed is not enough to wipe away an entire list of wrongs, and even one bad deed deserves to be punished. The Bible says in Romans 6:23 "For the wages (cost/penalty) of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." I know it's Christmas and here I am talking about death, but it is important to realize how bad things are in order to understand how good God is. God doesn't want you to die, and he doesn't want you to suffer in this life either. God doesn't want anyone to perish but rather that all would come to repentance and have a restored relationship with him. Jesus doesn't just say he loves you - he proved he loves you. He made a way for you to be saved from your sins, rescued from the fate of hell, and promised not only everlasting life in heaven, but a life on earth that is renewed with his power and strengthened by the joy and hope that can be found in him. Jesus loves you; he wants to help you through every rough patch and dark tunnel, be there for you when all the world seems to be closing in, but you have to be willing to let him into your life. You have to be willing to take the rose in his outstretched hand and commit to belonging to him forever. 🌹💫 If you do choose to accept his love, he will never leave you, never forsake you, he will care for you, guide you, protect you, and comfort you with a love and understanding so strong all else grows small in comparison. I know this because this is what Jesus does for me, and he will do the same for you if you let him. You may seem ordinary on the surface, but you are a treasure - unique and flawed, perfectly imperfect, beloved and created by God. Have you thought about what you could give God this Christmas?
