Jaguar S-Type – ZF 6HP26 Transmission Service DIY (Full How-To) | Part 7

Keeping Project S-Type alive! In this episode I tackle a full ZF 6HP26 automatic transmission service on my Jaguar S-Type 3.0 V6 Sport – at home, on the driveway. I drain the old ATF, remove the original pan and filter, fit a new combined pan/filter with fresh bolts, and then fight my way through one of the least enjoyable parts of the job: the damaged fill plug. Someone had previously attempted this without the correct special tool, rounding out the 8mm hex and making access… “interesting”, especially with the chassis rail and hot exhaust inches away. Despite sacrificing a hex bit and burning my hand more than once, I get the job done – cold fill, hot fill with the engine running, and final level check.
