True Ghost Story: "Get Out of My House!"

Chris was living in Peekskill, New York in a building that dated back to the Revolutionary War — columned like a small White House, once used as city hall, a weapons depot, and a jail. His bedroom was separated from the rest by curtains. The kitchen was the old jail cell, divided from where he slept by a single swinging door. The first night they moved in, his mother came through his curtains hysterical. A deep voice in her room had told her to get out. After that, the house made itself known in waves. Something would sit on her bed and she'd reach for the dog — only to find the dog was already on the floor beside her, not on the bed. Chris started getting touched on the feet in the middle of the night, his feet positioned right at that swinging jail cell door. Pans slammed off the counter while he cooked. Something grabbed his hand as he threw trash in the can and pulled. One night, a black mass was hovering over him when he woke from sleep paralysis — and the moment he registered what it was, it moved straight through the swinging door into the old jail cell kitchen and was gone. Upstairs, furniture dragged across the floor at 3 AM — but the neighbors' lights were all off and they were asleep. Chris stayed longer than most people would have. Eventually, they had to go. Tony, Todd & Carol break it down — and note that a house with Revolutionary War jail cells, weapons storage, and a deep voice telling you to leave on night one might be the clearest sign anyone's ever been given.
