Red Buses Go Green | City Bus Manager | South Coast

It's a quick one this week, I'm still recovering from participating in London Pride at the weekend, but nevertheless making an important addition to the Solent Red network in Southampton. This takes the form of the first squadron deployment of electric buses in the city; a batch of 12 Enviro400 City EV-bodied BYD D8UR-DDs destined for the 30, which runs between the city centre and Southampton University's Glen Eyre Halls. Being the main route to and within the University, the 30 was the most obvious choice for a first deployment of electric buses in Southampton, and their use on the 30 will enable a cascade of VEHs to either the 4 or the 9, and from there, some older VEs can be moved down to Jurassic County.
