Firefighter Michael Altman was a fourth-generation Chicago firefighter who carried on a legacy of service with pride, courage, and heart. Assigned to Truck 47, he answered every call with unwavering dedication, following in the footsteps of those who came before him while building a legacy of his own. He was not only a firefighter, but a husband, a father, and a man deeply committed to protecting others. On March 20, 2026, Firefighter Altman was critically injured while operating at a fire in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago. Despite the efforts of his brothers to save him, he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
