Our drive takes us from the Historic village of Hodnet to our local town Market Drayton

Both Hodnet and Market Drayton have lots of history just like many other towns and villages throughout Shropshire and the Uk as a whole. The Bear at Hodnet had a bear pit and was established as a coaching inn in the 16th century, the village name comes from the old Welsh hawed nant, meaning peaceful valley. In the early 70’s the Bear Inn had 4 bears, they were baby Malayan sun bears, but rather than go into a long essay why not look up the info online. As for Market Drayton it formally called Drayton, it was one of the smallest settlements on record with just 5 households, obviously it has grown since then, it became Market Drayton when in 1245 King Henry third allowed the settlement, to hold a weekly Wednesday market which it still does to this present day.
