I've been doing some deep dives into the cultural differences between France and the US recently, and remembered studying the history of tipping in the US - and its roots in racism and the Jim Crow era. This wasn't just in the South, mind you - it was the entire United States. In this video, I explore that history and compare/contrast it with modern tradition in France.
