Mace flourish as Drum Majors lead the combined pipe bands back after 2023 Ballater Highland Games
Drum Majors lead the combined Pipe Bands on the march into Ballater after the 2023 Ballater Highland Games. This was on Saturday 10th August 2023 as the bands marched back into the town after the Games. Leading is Drum Major Bill Barclay, showing his Mace flourish skills on the march, and proving it does go wrong occasionally, together with Drum Majors Phillip Michie and Fraser Dyer. The bands were Ellon & District Pipe Band, Aberlour Community & District Pipe Band and Towie Pipe Band, playing Flett from Flotta, Wings and Scotland the Brave. The bands were marching back from Monaltrie Park in Ballater, where the Games are held annually on the second Thursday in August each year, to the Green in the centre of Ballater, where Beating Retreat then takes place.
