Arbeiten trotz Rente Ab 2027 fällt das Krankengeld weg
The German Bundestag has passed an important change to sick pay regulations. This affects people who receive an old-age pension and continue working alongside it. From January 1, 2027, the following will apply: Anyone receiving an old-age pension as a partial pension amounting to more than two-thirds of their full pension will generally no longer be entitled to sick pay. This means that the popular partial pension of 99.99 percent, in particular, loses a significant advantage. In this video, I explain: ✅ Who is affected by the new sick pay regulations ✅ What happens to the 99.99 percent partial pension ✅ Whether the employer still has to pay wages for six weeks ✅ What else should be checked regarding a VBL (German Public Sector Pension Fund) or company pension The starting point is Werner's question. He works part-time as a teacher and wants to receive an old-age pension for severely disabled people. He had originally planned to switch to a partial pension of 99.99 percent in order to maintain his entitlement to sick pay. ✅ Who is affected by the new sick pay regulations ✅ What happens to the 99.99 percent partial pension ✅ Whether the employer still has to pay wages for six weeks ✅ What should be checked in addition to the VBL pension or company pension The starting point is Werner's question. He works as a part-time teacher and wants to receive an old-age pension for severely disabled people. He had originally planned to switch to a partial pension of 99.99 percent in order to retain his entitlement to sick pay. ✅ ...✅ ✅ ✅ ✅ However, under the new regulations, such a high partial pension will no longer offer any advantage regarding sick pay from 2027 onwards. Those who wish to retain their entitlement to sick pay will be limited to a maximum of two-thirds of their full retirement pension. Important: Continued payment of wages by the employer generally remains in effect. Even working pensioners typically continue to receive their wages for up to six weeks in the event of illness. The potential financial gap only begins after this period, when no sick pay is provided by the health insurance fund. Those affected should therefore not hastily change their full or partial pension. Before making a decision, the health insurance fund, the German Pension Insurance (Deutsche Rentenversicherung), and, if applicable, the VBL (Versorgungsanstalt des Bundes und der Länder) or the respective company pension provider should be consulted. Feel free to write in the comments: Do you continue working alongside your retirement pension? Or did you plan to maintain your entitlement to sick pay with a partial pension of 99.99 percent? The effects depend on your insurance status, employment status, pension amount, and any company or supplementary pension scheme. This information cannot replace individual consultation.
