At the intersection of improvised music, contemporary jazz, and post-genre creative music, the KATHRIN PECHLOF TRIO unfolds a finely nuanced chamber music–like sound world. Here, biographically informed musical material merges with influences from Impressionism and classical modernism, as well as with practices of free improvisation and contrapunctal compositional techniques. The boundaries between composition and improvisation become deliberately fluid, and traditional roles dissolve: each member of the trio is at once soloist, accompanist, instigator, and guide. In this way, a shared sonic language emerges in which the ensemble itself becomes a “meta-instrument” — a collective, breathing entity.
