In March 2025, Laura moved from Los Angeles to her hometown of Niigata Prefecture, where she is based. Learning from local farmers, she embarked on a self-sufficient lifestyle, working on rice and vegetable farming and miso making. Using her first harvest, she hosted a Niiname-sai (a festival for the New Year) and Shimenawa (sacred rope) making workshop with local residents. We spoke with her about what she learned from this self-sufficient lifestyle, her current Japanese home, and the lack of successors to Japan's traditional crafts. Please tune in. ■Cast [Guest] Model/Actress Laura Born in 1990 in Tokyo, she was born in Japan to a Bangladeshi father and a mother who is quarter Japanese and quarter Russian. She spent her childhood in Bangladesh before returning to Japan. After being scouted in Shibuya while in high school, she began her career as a fashion model at age 16. She later became a successful TV personality and actress. She also serves as creative director for her own lifestyle brand, "STUDIO R330." While attending college, she founded and operated "ERL Studio," a music recording studio exclusively for university students. After working at a television station, she launched "World in Twelve," a project in which she spent one month in 12 cities around the world and interviewed everyone she met asking the same 12 questions. She then founded a production company and worked on various video, music, and event projects before assuming her current position. ■What is RE:PODS?
