Krisbow 8” Retro Desk Fan | Kipas Angin Antik Kecil

One of my most impulsive fan purchases ever. But not the same kind of impulsiveness as when I buy New Old Stock fans in bulk, because at least with NOS fans, I can still imagine the value, the history, and get excited about exploring each unit. This one? Different story. Bought this fan way before the Reviewer Jangkung channel even existed, back when AZKO Indonesia was still called ACE Hardware. And honestly... I bought it for one reason only: it looked cute. That’s it. I had zero practical plans for this fan. Didn’t plan to use it, didn’t know where to put it, and realistically, this kind of fan is way less practical than a normal desk fan anyway. Plus, it looks like the kind of fan that would be annoying to maintain. So after buying it, I played with it for a bit, put it back in the box, and completely forgot about it. Until one day, while cleaning a drawer, I rediscovered it and suddenly remembered this thing. Since it was just sitting there doing absolutely nothing, here we are. Concept-wise, this fan actually reminds me a lot of my 10” Kris fan from around 10 years ago. The idea is quite similar, but this one leans much more into a vintage-inspired design, while the Kris 10” feels more raw and neutral. Personally, I really love the proportions of this fan. It’s so tiny that it honestly feels more like a 6” oscillating fan than an actual 8” fan. It also uses a “grown-up fan” motor instead of a shaded pole motor, which was a nice surprise. Thankfully, the performance isn’t too overkill either. Instead, it runs relatively quiet for something this small. The downside is airflow, which is a bit underwhelming. But I guess that makes sense, since this was probably designed as a personal desk fan rather than something meant to cool an entire room. The neck adjustment is also pretty limited, so tilting it up or down isn’t very flexible. Compared to my 10” version, this fan is definitely higher maintenance. The grill spacing is much tighter, meaning it collects dust faster and needs more frequent cleaning. And to make things even less fun, the front grill is fully screwed on instead of using clips, which makes cleaning kind of a pain. That said, build quality is actually pretty solid. Even though this is basically an OEM fan, the materials feel surprisingly decent, and I believe this little guy should hold up well for a long time. Will I actually use it? Probably not.
