Everyone Warned Me About Bogotá — They Were Wrong 🇨🇴

Before I went to Bogotá, everyone told me to be careful. Too dangerous, too grey, too cold, nothing to do. I went anyway — and found one of the most historically rich and culturally fascinating cities in South America. Here's what Bogotá is actually like. 📍 WHAT I DID IN BOGOTÁ → Monserrate — the mountain church above the city, cable car up, incredible views over the skyline → La Candelaria — Bogotá's historic colonial quarter, street art, churches and colonial architecture → Parque Bolívar & Plaza de Bolívar — the heart of the city, surrounded by parliament, the cathedral and the Palace of Justice → The city skyline — Bogotá stretches further than you'd believe, one of the largest cities in South America 🗺️ PRACTICAL INFO 📍 Location: Bogotá, Colombia — 2,640m above sea level ⚠️ Altitude: You will feel it the first day — take it slow, drink water, avoid alcohol your first 24 hours 💰 Budget: $40–60 USD/day covers accommodation, food and transport comfortably 🚗 Getting around: Uber works well throughout the city — much safer than street taxis 🌤️ Weather: Bogotá is cloudy and cool year-round — pack layers, don't expect sunshine 🛂 Safety: Stick to the tourist areas (La Candelaria, Zona Rosa, Usaquén), use Uber, and you'll be completely fine 💡 HONEST VERDICT Bogotá surprised me. The weather is genuinely grey — that part is true. But the history, the architecture, the food and the energy of the city are completely underrated. Most travellers skip it for Medellín. That's a mistake. 🌍 I'm visiting 60+ countries before 30 — subscribe to follow the journey 📸 Instagram: @195under30 #Bogotá #Colombia #BogotáColombia #ColombiaTravel #BogotáTravel #Monserrate #LaCandelaria #PlazaBolivar #SouthAmericaTravel #BudgetTravel #BogotáVlog #ColombiaTravel2025 #195Under30 🔔 𝐒𝐔𝐁𝐒𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐏𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐊: ▶️    / @195under30
