When a single space has to do everything at once, organization quickly becomes a challenge. In this episode of IKEA + Me, we meet Marie, who has lived in her Parisian apartment for 15 years with her three sons—15-year-old triplets—and their niece. Five people, one living space, and ever-evolving needs. Her living room combines a dining room, a relaxation area, and a home office. With all-consuming passions like sewing and knitting, a need for a welcoming space for family gatherings, and the desire to truly disconnect from work at the end of the day, the project was ambitious. The goal: to completely redesign this multifunctional space to incorporate a large, inviting dining room, a comfortable living room with ample storage, and a dedicated home office area separated by a partition—allowing Marie to isolate herself to work and, most importantly, to visually disconnect from her office at the end of the day. Screen, keyboard, mouse: everything disappears when she's offline. A carefully considered color scheme defines each space and adds character to the room. And while the teams were working on the design, Marie wasn't idle: she headed to the DIY workshop to embroider personalized cushions that will adorn the new living room!
