J.S. Bach's Sleepers Awake for Solo Guitar (arr. Declan Zapala)

Welcome to my YouTube channel where I post random videos of things I've created from month to month! This video was created for my segment in Guitar Techniques Magazine Issue GT362 (July 2024). This month I have prepared the central movement 'Zion hört die Wächter singen' from J.S. Bach's evocative cantata 'Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme' ('Awake, calls the voice to us'), better known colloquially as Sleepers Awake (BWV 140). There are regular instances of 3-part harmonies as Bach wrote this for organ with two manuals (keyboards) and pedals, so one part is played by the left hand, one part by the right hand, and the other by the feet. As you can imagine this is a real roast for the hands when condensing that all down to just six strings! Enjoy! Thoughts? Leave them in the comments below!
