The weather forecast across South Africa today is as follows: Today cloudy and foggy conditions blanketing much of the southern interior and KwaZulu-Natal Province, reducing visibility for morning commuters. Cold and overcast weather will persist in the south, with light showers expected along the East Coast and KwaZulu-Natal coastline, creating damp and wintry conditions. The start of the new week will see similar foggy and cloudy weather stretching across the western and southern coasts, as well as the adjacent interior, while the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Highveld can anticipate isolated showers and thunderstorms. The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms in most of Mpumalanga—excluding the Lowveld—where localised flooding, hail, and damaging winds may cause disruption to roads, bridges, and infrastructure. Despite these warnings, most other regions remain free of severe weather alerts, though residents should stay alert to changing conditions, especially in the east of South Africa.
