A shaggy Bob Dylan with a slightly rough but not rowdy "It Ain't Me, Babe" from July 26, 1991.
This version of "It Ain't Me, Babe" reaches back into the early years of The Neverending Tour, during a time when Dylan, you might say, hadn't yet "got his groove back." Nevertheless, it's a winning performance of the song. A rather scruffy-looking, bearded Bob seems to be having a good time singing it, and you can hear from the reactions that the audience was having a good time being there and enjoying his performance, too. The show was held at the Kingswood Music Theatre, a summer concert amphitheater at Canada's Wonderland, the nation's premier amusement park located just outside Toronto. The Kingswood venue debuted in 1983, two years after the theme park first opened its gates in 1981. The Theatre has since closed following its final show in 2019. Dylan played two concerts at Kingswood Music Theatre - July 29, 1989 and this one on July 26 two years later. I was at both of them, but only captured the second. Amusement parks were a regular venue for Dylan in those days. Among others he played was Lake Compounce Festival Park in Bristol, CT, September 4, 1988 and July 16, 1989, both of which I also attended but didn't capture. (I didn't start videotaping until Fall 1989.)
