Aglona is a small village in eastern Latvia. This place has gained worldwide fame thanks to the apparition of the Virgin Mary. The Aglona Basilica, built here in the 18th century, is today Aglona's main attraction. In 1993, Pope John Paul II visited the basilica, celebrating Mass in the presence of 380,000 pilgrims. The main feast day in Aglona is celebrated on August 15th—the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. More than 150,000 pilgrims attend this service annually. About 2 kilometers from the basilica is another popular attraction, called the Hill of Christ the King. It's a theme park based on biblical scenes. All the artefacts are carved from wood. Furthermore, this place is beautifully decorated with paths, flowers, bridges, and so on. We've been everywhere, and now I'm showing you my video about this wonderful place.
