Turning Trash into an Insect Hotel + First Guests!
The first visitors to my DIY bug hotel! Here’s what an insect hotel in use looks like. Turn trash into an insect hotel for solitary bees and wasps. Here I’m using an empty Pringles can and hollow and dry cow parsley stems. If you want the insect hotel to be more decorative, you can paint the outside with acrylics like I’m doing here. I opted for a wildflower pattern. Solitary bees and wasps are native pollinators that are in decline and need our help. They don’t sting easily like community wasps, so it’s safe to lure them into your garden or balcony. They need long tubes or drilled holes to make their nests and lay their eggs in. It was slow at the bug hotel at first but on a hot day, it finally started getting booked.
