This evocative railway scene uses little details to really bring it alive
I have finally finished adding details and weathering the track on my N Gauge (1:148) station throat. In this video I will show you the steps I followed to turn a bare baseboard into a wonderful station throat so evocative of the early 1990s neglect in our large town railway stations. I show how I prepared the baseboard ready to add the ballast and weathering. I show the technique I used to paint the track and make it look realistically dirty and neglected. Using paint and dry-brushing techniques I make the buffer stops look old and rusty. I use cheaply-available commercial products to add drainage, point motors, speed signs, and railway sleepers into the scene to enhance the feeling of dirty neglect in the railway station diorama. The techniques I use are not just suitable for N Gauge. They can be used in other scales and gauges too, such as HO scale and 00 Gauge.
