La France aux 1000 villages - Le Gers

Gers, in the heart of Gascony, lies in the northern part of the Midi-Pyrénées region. It is, in itself, a microcosm of the entire Southwest. With its 454 inhabitants, the small village of Bassoues d'Armagnac is 40 km southwest of Auch, the region's capital, and was a place of pilgrimage for eight centuries. Lavardens, located not far from Condom, developed around the castle built in the 17th century on the ruins of a medieval fort.
