Why Toni Kukoc is NOT a Hall of Famer [WHAT REALLY HAPPENED]
IG: / a.m.hoops Twitter: / caseykeirnan Toni Kukoc won a host of awards in Europe before coming to the NBA at 25 years old. He eventually won 3 championships off the bench for the late ‘90’s Chicago Bulls. His relationship with the other Bulls started off rocky but they eventually respected each other by the end of the 1998 season. GM Jerry Krause coveted a young Kukoc as if he was the next Michael Jordan of the Bulls but he failed to live up to anything close to that lofty expectation. People might ask what happened to Toni Kukoc, how good was Toni Kukoc or wonder about Toni Kukoc Hall of Fame. This video answers all of those questions. Kukoc was born in Yugoslavia in a town now called Split, Croatia. He was a natural at most sports he played but was a prodigy at basketball. The Bulls drafted Kukoc in 1990 in the second round but he did not come over until after the 1993 season. Once he arrived in Chicago Michael Jordan was already playing baseball. Kukoc quickly proved that he could come up big in clutch moments and that made for a contentious episode when Scottie Pippen refused to go into the final seconds of a playoff game in which Kukoc hit the game winning shot. Once MJ returned to the Bulls Kukoc signed a massive deal and thrived as a sixth man. He is the last person to win Sixth Man of the Year and a championship in the same season. Kukoc finally got to be the number 1 option after the 1998 season but by then he was in his 30’s and the teams he led were some of the worst in the NBA. If Kukoc was drafted by a bad team in his prime things may have been different but he is still not in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He could get in based on his European resume alone and there’s still time for that to happen. A.M. Hoops Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...
