I Ran The Serpent Trail 75km | Is It England's Most Beautiful Race? (Freedom Racing)

The Serpent Trail 75km is an ultramarathon by Freedom Racing. Hosted in the South Downs National Park, it’s designed as a mid-distance option between their 50km and 100km races which take place on the same day. Starting a short coach ride (included in the package) away from the race village venue at Petersfield Rugby Club in Hampshire, which serves as the finish line, the route takes runners through incredibly varied terrain including a mix of lowland heath, ancient woodland, greensand ridges, and the occasional road link. With over 4,000 feet of climbing, and highs expected to reach 26 degrees Celsius, this was set to be an epic day of trail running and adventure. Having heard exceptional things about this event for years at this point, I just had to try it for myself. I got to the race venue bright and early, hopped on the coach, and made my way to the start line. Here's my experience of taking on what was promising to be a stunning race. Enjoy!
