🎙️ In this episode, we are joined by Dr. Swati Bakshi, a broadcast journalist, academic, and researcher whose work explores the intersections of media, gender, and society. Dr. Bakshi holds a PhD in Film from the Centre for Research and Education in Art and Media (CREAM), University of Westminster, London. Her research focuses on Hindi cinema, radio histories, and contemporary digital media culture. Her doctoral thesis is recognized as the first academic study of the pioneering filmmaker and media personality Sai Paranjpye. A graduate of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi, Dr. Bakshi has worked with leading public service broadcasters including All India Radio, DD News, BBC World Service, and Deutsche Welle. She currently teaches broadcast journalism, podcasting, film theory, and film history. She is also the author of a Hindi book on women filmmakers (2025) and the creator of Cinemaya (2019), a podcast series featuring eight Indian women film directors. Through their stories, the series explores filmmaking practices and the evolving work culture of Bombay cinema.
