This trip, I’m taking you on a road trip to the southernmost district of Thailand Betong, Yala. A small town nestled in the mountains, Betong is known for its cool weather all year round, its charming natural surroundings, and of course… its incredible food! After our Yala city trip, we drove another 80 kilometers — about 2 hours — along winding roads lined with greenery that made the whole journey refreshing. When we finally arrived, the OK BETONG sign welcomed us, almost like a signal to get ready for all the amazing dishes waiting here. It was my first time visiting Betong, and what struck me immediately was the warmth of the people. Betong isn’t just the southernmost town in Thailand. It’s a small community filled with smiles and beautiful stories. Every dish here isn’t only delicious but also reflects the lifestyle and memories of the locals. Betong is famous for its premium local ingredients and specialties you can’t find elsewhere: Betong chicken, stream-raised tilapia, Betong noodles, Betong grass jelly, Betong soy sauce, and fruits like Puang Manee durian and longan durian. On this trip, I made sure to try nearly everything and I can honestly say, the reputation is well deserved! This was my very first experience in Betong, and it was so impressive. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend visiting for yourself. I promise it’ll be unforgettable.
