The Beast of Bramley and the Dark Secrets of Lindley Wood. Otley. North Yorkshire
One of the biggest and most well-known missing persons investigations took place in 2000 to 2001 as the story of missing 16 year old Leanne Tiernan, who vaniahedcafter a visit to Leeds Christmas Market, made headline news and front page newspapers. The investigation concluded in August 2001, 9 months later, and in tragic circumstances, as Leanne was discovered in Lindley Woods in Otley. The location of her body was just a few yards and years from where, in 1992, another body, that of 33 year old Yvonne Fitt was found. The race then began to find the one responsible for Leanne's death, and the evidence pointed to an unremarkable man who happened to live on the same estate as Leanne in Bramley. This man would go on to become known by the press as The Beast of Bramley and linked to numerous crimes over a 2 decade period. This is the story of how a beautiful woodland location was also the scene of dark and terrible acts.
