Class 50,power thrash action in Portugal.mpg

A selection of clips featuring the glorious portuguese class 50s, these magnificent locomotives were stable mates of our own class 50s but made for the portuguese market at vulcan foundry and shipped out. Clip 1 is filmed on the outskirts of Tunes on the Algarve and shows 1804 at the head of the 1615 Villa Real to Barreiroon the 29/3/92. Clip 2 shows the same loco earlier in the day heading towards Villa Real with the 0825 from Barreiro on the outskirts of Tunes. Clip 3 shows 1803 at speed with the 0630 Villa Real to Barreiro near Santa Clara Saboia on the 1/4/92. Clip 4 shows 1805 bresting the steep gradieant near Santa Clara with the 0630 Villa Real to Barreiro on the 31/3/92 Clip 5 shows 1801 departing Fara with the 0825 Barreiro to Villa Real filmed on the 2/4/92. Clip 6 shows 1807 powering the 16 15 Villa Real to Barreiro away from Tunes on the 1/4/92. Clip 7 Shows 1802 bathed in evening sunshine departing the station at Tunes with the 1615 Villa Real to Barreiro filmed on the 28/3/92. It is impossible to not be impressed by these magnificent locos. They sounded unmistakably like an english electric CVT powered loco, to my ear they sometimes sounded like a class 40 and definately whistled more than a class 50. Superb.
