Snow, Ice, Hail & Blasting Winds - Hilleberg Soulo in the Lake District in Icy Winter Conditions I head to the mountains of the English Lake District during a period of snow, ice and winter weather to put the Hilleberg Soulo through it's paces in the conditions it was designed for. My friend Tony (link to his channel below) and I head up into the stunning snow covered fells and hike up to the ridge, ascending through snow and ice to reach our camp location. Panoramic views of snow covered mountains, wintry and tumultuous skies and sudden gusts blasted us with particles of ice and hail throughout the camp. I cooked up some Reindeer Stew for my evening meal and enjoyed a nice chocolate stout to wash it down, whilst staying warm and cosy within the safety of my tent. The next day, the snow and hail had consolidated into a frozen crust, meaning spikes were essential to descend safely back to the van. Finally, we headed back down to the village of Ambleside to enjoy a lovely English Breakfast before heading home. This was a truly memorable wild camp and one which I will remember always.
