THE SIGHT OF JAPAN 1/2 : Flight onboard ANA B 777-281ER JA741A from Tokyo (HND) to Kobe (UKB)

Welcome onboard the outbound leg and my first flight of All Nippon Airways B 777-281ER JA741A from Tokyo-Haneda to Kobe Airport (UKB). The three Airports serving the Kansai region Kansai Airport (KIX), Osaka-Itami (ITM) and Kobe Airport (UKB) share the tight airspace over Osaka Bay. This was the last of three rare occasions, I could not miss to sample a 392-seater to the third and smallest Airport in Kansai, normally served by narrow bodies, namely the B 737-800 of Skymark Airlines, using Kobe Airport (UKB) as one of their regional hubs. This early flight with a seat load factor of roughly 15% served as a feeder service for NH 577 carrying hundreds of school children to Sapporo. Thank you for visiting my channel. History of Boeing 777-281ER JA741A Serial number 40900 / Line Number 1005 was manufactured 2012, performed her first flight on April 4, the same year and was delivered on April 21, 2012 to All Nippon Airways. From January, 2018 until October, 2022 JA741A carried the colorful livery “Hello 2020 Jet” promoting the planned Olympic Games in Tokyo. Equipped with Pratt & Whitney PW 4090, the entire fleet of ANA’s Boeing 777-200 series and the domestic fleet of the remaining five Boeing 777-300 was grounded, following a United Airlines incident in February, 2021 that saw engine parts falling over Denver. This incident and the Corona Pandemic forced ANA to put JA741A into storage at Tokyo-Haneda Airport (HND) from February 16, 2021 until October 1, 2022. After the Corona Pandemic the demand for domestic air travel picked up sharply in 2022. ANA reinstalled Boeing 777 operations on domestic trunk routes, mainly from Tokyo to Sapporo, Osaka, Fukuoka and Naha. JA741A returned to service on October 25, 2022. JA741A operated with a seating configuration of C21Y384 until February, 2020 and was then re-equipped with a with a new cabin layout and a seating configuration of C28Y364. JA741A is operating mainly on domestic trunk routes of All Nippon Airways.
