The Dish That Made My Birthday Parties Legendary | Mother’s Day Special | Best Chole Recipe | Ghar Wala Tikki Chaat | Maa Ki Yaadein Ep 3 | Amrita Raichand Happy Mother’s Day to every mom who made ordinary days feel magical. And to my mom, this entire series is for you… Growing up, my friends didn’t just come to my birthday parties for me. They came for Mom’s Chole. Every single birthday, without fail she’d make this one dish that had the whole room going quiet the moment it was served. Simple ingredients. Everyday spices and somehow it was the best thing anyone had ever eaten. And the best part? She never stopped at just the Chole- she would turn them into the most delicious Chole Tikki Chaat you’ve ever had and I just remembered that she would call it “sone pe suhaga” ☺️ That was her genius. That was her generosity. After losing her, making this felt impossible. But on this Mother’s Day I made it. For her. For me. For every memory she gave me. One bite and I was right back at my birthday party table. Surrounded by friends. Surrounded by her love. This is the simplest, most flavourful Chole you’ll ever make and the Tikkis? The perfect summer weekend treat. Mom’s Chole Ingredients 1 cup Chickpeas (Kabuli Chana), washed & soaked overnight 1 tbsp Oil 2 tbsp Ghee 1” Ginger (finely sliced) 1 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeera) 2 Bay leaves 3–4 Cloves 2 Black cardamom (Badi Elaichi) 1-inch Cinnamon stick A pinch of Asafoetida (Hing) 2 Onions, finely chopped 5–6 Green chilies, slit or chopped 3 Tomatoes, roughly chopped Salt to taste ½ tsp Turmeric powder 1–2 tsp Coriander powder 1 tsp Red chili powder A pinch of Cooking soda 3–4 cups Water 2 tbsp soaked tamarind juice Tadka for Chole Ingredients 1 tbsp Ghee 1-inch Ginger, cut into thin juliennes A pinch of Asafoetida (Hing) 2 Whole dried red chilies Tikki Chaat Ingredients For the Aloo Tikki 3 boiled potatoes 1 tsp Anardana (dried pomegranate seeds) 2–3 Green chilies, finely chopped Salt to taste 1-2 tbsp Corn flour 2 tbsp Freshly chopped coriander leaves For Serving Dahi (curd/yogurt) Sweet chutney Green chutney Prepared chole This Mother’s Day, cook something that reminds you of her.
