After his divorce, Frédéric François finally admitted who the true love of his life was. Born on June 3, 1950, in Lercara Friddi, Sicily, into a very modest Italian family, Francesco Barracato, known as Frédéric François, was the second child of Giuseppe Barracato, known as Peppino, and Antonina Salemi, known as Nina. His father was initially a miner in a sulfur mine in Lercara; his mother was a seamstress in Lercara. The couple had eight children.[1] His father emigrated to Belgium to the Liège coal basin[2][3] where he obtained a three-year contract as a miner.[Note 1]
