A very simple casserole recipe with just a few ingredients. This quick casserole recipe is perfect for both lunch and dinner. The casserole is made with a simple roux as a sauce. And of course, it's baked in the oven with plenty of cheese. I personally always think that's the best way to enjoy a casserole from the oven. Anyway, are you hungry yet? Here's the recipe: Ingredients for 6 servings: 1 kg potatoes 500 g ground beef Cheese of your choice for topping 200 ml vegetable or beef broth 3 tbsp butter 3 tbsp flour Cold milk (to taste - see video for instructions) Chives Parsley or other herbs Spices: Salt Pepper Nutmeg Sweet paprika powder Optional: Caraway seeds Preparation: 1. Peel, wash, and thinly slice the potatoes, then rub them dry with a clean cloth. 2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. ``` 3. Add the ground meat to the heated oil and brown it well, breaking it up into crumbles. 4. Season with salt, pepper, sweet paprika, and a pinch of nutmeg. Mix well and then set aside. 5. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. 6. Add the flour to the melted butter and stir for about 2 minutes to combine. 7. Gradually add a little cold milk, stirring vigorously. Stir until a roux forms, then pour in the broth and continue stirring. 8. Once the sauce has thickened again, gradually add more milk until it reaches the desired consistency. 9. Season the roux with salt, pepper, nutmeg, and caraway seeds (optional). 10. Add the chives and parsley, or other herbs of your choice. 11. Add the well-dried potato slices and the ground meat to the sauce and mix well. Cover with a tight-fitting lid and simmer over low heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Transfer the potatoes, ground beef, and roux to a casserole dish. Sprinkle the mixture with your choice of cheese. The casserole should be completely covered with cheese. Bake the casserole at 180°C (350°F) for about 20-30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown.
