Entrevista a "Pete" Bonet
El cantante, bailarín, y promotor puertorriqueño ‘Pete’ Bonet nacido en Santurce, Puerto Rico, en los años cincuenta emigró a Nueva York donde estudió administración de empresas y cantó con las orquestas de Tito Rodríguez, Tito Puente, Alfredito Valdés, Ray Barretto, Mongo Santamaría, Joe Cuba, Louie Ramírez, entre otros. Bonet también fue socio del famoso Club ‘El Corso’, en la ciudad de Nueva York, propiedad de Tony Raimone . ‘El Corso’ fue el sitio nocturno más popular de la llamada “Gran Manzana”, luego del cierre de la ‘El Palladium’. En 1968, la orquesta de Pete Bonet, compuesta por doce integrantes y dirigida por el compositor, arreglista y productor del sello Fania Louie Ramírez, hizo su debut en el club; luego, a mediados de 1970, Bonet y Ramírez grabaron el disco ‘The Beautiful People’. Ambos firmaron aquel álbum como Pete & Louie, siendo el segundo que publicaron en sociedad.
