Speed Is Nothing Without Control. Time To Ride With Reno #horseriding #horse #dedication

Today's lesson with Reno wasn't about speed—it was about control. We started by lunging and connecting with Reno on the ground before climbing into the saddle. Then came the hard part: slowing down and focusing on the fundamentals. Soft hands, soft reins, looking where I'm going, leading with my shoulders, sitting deep, and learning to regulate speed instead of letting speed control me. I'll be honest... these lessons can feel boring sometimes because all I want to do is go fast and prepare for barrel racing. But every great horse and rider partnership is built on a strong foundation. While I worked with Reno, my sister got to spend time with Cruiser, and we wrapped up the day with a beautiful trail ride together. Sometimes the slow work is the work that matters most.
