I get to work with a highly trained liberty pony, and I quickly realized how difficult this new language is! When you are focusing on your hands, your position, and your steps all at the same time, it is easy to send your horse mixed signals without even knowing it. It was a great reminder that true connection only happens when you are fully in the moment. We also work with a beautiful, sensitive mare. She is a real "pleaser" and wants to do everything perfectly. But because of that pressure, she builds up tension and completely locks her shoulders. We show you exactly how we use both groundwork and riding aids to help her unlock that tension and find a relaxed balance. As Alizée says beautifully at the end: if we want to allow our horses to make mistakes, we have to allow ourselves to make mistakes too.
