The local election in Coahuila sparked a heated clash between the PRI and Movimiento Ciudadano parties during a panel discussion. PRI congresswoman Marcela Guerra asserted that the results represent citizen support for Governor Manolo Jiménez and proof that Morena can be defeated at the polls. Meanwhile, Movimiento Ciudadano congresswoman Laura Ballesteros rejected the notion that the result has national implications and maintained that Coahuila is a unique case with a consolidated local political structure. She also denounced alleged electoral irregularities and affirmed that Movimiento Ciudadano will continue its refusal to form alliances with the PRI. The debate also extended to the PAN party, which lost its local registration in the state.
