The Lord told the Levites: “I am your portion and your inheritance…” (Numbers 18:20) David declared: “The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup…” (Psalm 16:5) Jeremiah, writing in the midst of sorrow, proclaimed: “The LORD is my portion… therefore I will hope in Him.” (Lamentations 3:24) And Asaph worshiped with these beautiful words: “Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides You… God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (Psalm 73:25–26) This song is a heartfelt declaration that God is our inheritance, our treasure, our satisfaction, our security, and everything we truly need.
