The town has a memorial cross, known locally as a cry from the heart of a poisoned town. It was erected in May 2005 with funds from Karabash entrepreneur and philanthropist Gennady Kremeshkov. Residents raised and erected the cross practically by hand, as equipment was unable to access it. Few people know that Karabash was the center of Katyusha rocket production from the first years of the war. And even fewer people know that the production of virtually all types of military ammunition during the war would have been impossible without copper. And considering that at the beginning of the war, Karabash produced half of all copper in the country, it's safe to say that we would not have won the war without this city.
