¿Por qué Marina Abramović parecía una sacerdotisa? - Análisis de "La artista está presente"

What remains of a performance when it ends? In this video, I analyze "The Artist Is Present," the celebrated performance that Marina Abramović staged for three months at MoMA in New York in 2010. Seated, motionless, and silent, she received visitors one by one who wished to sit opposite her. I analyze aspects such as the staging, the artist's dress, and her posture, which evoke the experience of a ritual and are reminiscent of statues from Persian, Mesopotamian, Egyptian, and Archaic Greek cultures. The work was not only a search for intimate connection between two people in an atmosphere of silence and stillness. It also became a major cultural event whose images were disseminated worldwide and continue to form part of the contemporary art landscape. This leads me to ask: what was truly the most powerful aspect of the work? Is it the experience lived by those who participated, or the image that has remained and made Marina Abramović one of the great icons of contemporary art?
