My journey started with a comfortable overnight stay at Whitehouse Inn in Oranjeville, just a short 11-kilometre drive from Riviera. The route includes a stretch of gravel road, but the reward at the end is well worth it. As you arrive at Poortjie, you are welcomed by the vast open waters of the Vaal Dam, fresh country air and a sense of tranquillity that immediately makes you forget the rush of everyday life. Riviera is famous among fishing enthusiasts and has become a favourite location for anglers targeting species such as **carp, barbel (catfish), yellowfish and mudfish**. The area offers excellent bank fishing with plenty of space to set up your rods, relax in your chair and enjoy a full day beside the water.
