[Master Final Recital] 02. On Abjection - Jeonghyun Choi

[Jeonghyun Choi Master Final Recital] When Spinoza’s Ethics Meets Jazz ARTIST NOTE - This concert is a journey through imagined worlds shaped by Spinoza’s Ethics and my own experiences. Through composition and improvisation, I explore substance, sadness, abjection, remorse, and the possibility of freedom. The music moves between philosophical experiment and personal vulnerability. 02. On Abjection: When sadness comes, I often see myself as less than I truly am. Spinoza calls this “abjection”: sadness that lowers our view of ourselves. Rather than escaping it, I try to understand and face it. This piece is my musical reflection on that struggle. I am still vulnerable, but without confronting this feeling, I cannot move forward.
