Inspection by the Department of Minerals concluded the KZN stones are quarts crystal
A rush for what an impoverished KwaZulu- Natal community believed were diamonds has ended with the announcement that the stones dug up are in fact not diamonds, but quartz crystals. However, plans are afoot to investigate the possibility of other under- ground resources like shale gas or water. Dr. Gideon Groenewald, a Geologist and Hydrologist expands on this.
