Sports news at: https://www.sportschau.de/ Hertha BSC's goals were scored by Reese (33rd minute) and Luca Schuler with a brace (36th and 62nd minutes). Branimir Hrgota (42nd minute) and Felix Klaus (58th minute) scored for Fürth to temporarily equalize. Dennis Srebeny salvaged a point late in the game (81st minute). For Fürth coach Heiko Vogel, however, it wasn't a "point gained," because: "We then had chances to make it 4-3 and even 5-3, and we let them slip away." Hertha's Stefan Leitl admitted: "It was a deserved draw." Leitl felt Fürth had been significantly better in the second half. What Stefan Leitl and Paul Seguin still want to achieve with Hertha BSC, they have already accomplished with Greuther Fürth: promotion to the Bundesliga. The Berliners underlined this ambition against the relegation-threatened Franconians in the opening phase. They dominated the game and almost took the lead in the 9th minute. But after Michael Cuisance's lob over Timo Schliek, Maximilian Dietz cleared the ball off the line. Against the worst defense in the league, the Berliners repeatedly resorted to long balls. They wanted to keep the Fürth defenders busy, counting on them eventually making mistakes. This happened in the 26th minute when the hosts' defense lost track of Fabian Reese, who, after a curling shot from Cuisance, chipped the ball over all the defenders to their captain. Reese controlled the ball on the left side of the penalty area and fired a right-footed shot into the top corner, but the video assistant referee quickly ended the celebration. Offside! Eichhorn had touched Cuisance's pass with his shoulder. But Reese wouldn't be Reese if he'd let that slide. A few minutes later, he received the ball again from Cuisance, this time a low through ball. From almost the same position, Reese, this time with his other foot, fired into the far corner once more. It was his first goal of the season from open play. Now the unsettled hosts completely lost sight of Hertha. Just three minutes later, Cuisance found the completely unmarked Schuler with a free kick, who made it 2-0. But Fürth's attack certainly doesn't need to hide from Berlin. They've scored more goals this season than Hertha and league leaders Schalke. Therefore, it was careless of the Berliners to lose sight of Hrgota just before halftime. After a sharp cross from the right, the Fürth captain scored to pull one back. But their joy was short-lived. Right in the middle of a period of sustained pressure from the hosts, Hertha responded quickly. The ball came to Michal Karbownik via Marton Dardai and Reese. Karbownik received Karbownik's pass to Schuler at the edge of the six-yard box before turning and firing a powerful shot into the near post past Schliek. But even this goal wasn't enough to dampen Fürth's spirits. Coach Heiko Vogel's team continued to press forward, creating further chances, especially down the flanks. Noel Futkeu missed a golden opportunity in the 75th minute when he could only just get a toe on a Dehm cross. Srbeny came on for him, and it was a brilliant decision. Just two and a half minutes after his substitution, the energetic Hrgota initiated an attack that culminated in Srbeny scoring the equalizer. Immediately afterward, Fürth were back in the penalty area, but Tjark Ernst made a save against Klaus. "Branimir Hrgota repeatedly identified spaces on the wing and created numerical superiority there, which caused us some problems," Leitl explained, highlighting Hertha's vulnerability on the flanks.
