Owain Phyfe & Friends ~ "She Moved Through The Fair" / "Once I Had A Sweetheart"

Owain Phyfe and Conrado "Charry" Garcia (New World Renaissance Band) with Michael "Micha" Gartner (Wolgemut), and Bobby Rodriguez (Bobby Rodriguez Productions) perform a medley of "She Moved Through The Fair" and "Once I Had A Sweetheart" at the Minstrel's Corner of the 2010 Miami Florida Renaissance Festival held at the Historic Virginia Key Beach Park in Miami, Florida, near Key Biscayne on Jan 23, 2010. This was filmed on a very windy day so please pardon the excess wind noise (despite the fact that I was using a shotgun mike with wind reduction setting). I hope you find this nice performance is worth putting up with some unfortunate wind noise and festival clatter. In this performance, Owain Phyfe is singing the lead vocals and playing his "renaissance guitar", the Italian Chitarra Battente; Conrado "Charry" Garcia is playing a Charango, Bobby Rodriguez is playing his Bass, and Michael Gartner is playing an authentic replica of a medieval Vielle (pre-cursor to the modern violin). The Lyrics for these two traditional Irish songs appear to be more recent in creation than the melodies, and were probably added after one of the many infamous potato famines. A nice version of this same medley can be found on the album "Odyssey" by the New World Renaissance Band. She came close beside me and this she did say, "It will not be long, love, 'til our wedding day." She stepped away from me and she moved through the Faire, and fondly I watched her move here and move there. She traveled so slowly with one star awake, like the swan in the evening moves over the lake. Last night she cam to me. My young love came in. So softly she entered her feet made no din. She came close beside me and this she did say, "It will not be long, love, 'till our wedding day." .................................................................. Once I had a sweetheart, but now I have none. Once I had a sweetheart, but now I have none. She's gone and leave me, She's gone and leave me, She's gone and leave me to sorrow and moan. Last night in sweet slumber I dreamed I did see, Last night in sweet slumber I dreamed I did see, my own precious jewel sat smiling by me. My own precious jewel sat smiling by me. And when I awakened I found it not so. And when I awakened I found it not so. My eyes like some fountain the tears overflow. My eyes like some fountain the tears overflow. I've traveled through England, through France, and through Spain. I've traveled through England, through France, and through Spain. All my life I will travel the watery main. All my life I will travel the watery main. Once I had a sweetheart, but now I have none. Once I had a sweetheart, but now I have none. Shes gone and leave me, Shes gone and leave me, Shes gone and leave me to sorrow and moan.
