恵庭岳は、北海道の支笏洞爺国立公園にある第四紀火山です。標高は1,320 mで、1991年に気象庁より活火山に指定されています。頂上に岩塔を抱いた円錐型火山で、頂上付近に東向きの爆裂火口があり、火口より東方に延長した深い亀裂がポロピナイ沢となって湖岸に達しています。この亀裂には数箇所の噴気孔があります。頂上からは支笏湖全景と日高山系・石狩平野・札幌などが見渡せます。 Mount Eniwa is a Quaternary volcano located in Shikotsu-Toya National Park in Hokkaido. It has an elevation of 1,320 meters and was designated an active volcano by the Japan Meteorological Agency in 1991. It is a conical volcano with a rocky tower at its summit, and near the top is an eastward-facing explosion crater. A deep fissure extending eastward from the crater forms the Poropinai Gorge, reaching the lakeshore. This fissure contains several fumaroles.
