雨飾山（標高1,963m）は、長野県小谷村と新潟県糸魚川市との県境、妙高連峰西端に位置する山です。三角点や指導標のある南峰と石仏と祠のある北峰の2つのピークを持つ双耳峰で、「あまかざり」という響きのよい山名とともに、どこから見ても美しい山容も登山者に人気の理由です。山名の由来には、「雨や天を祀る山」や、「双耳峰から両飾山、両粧山などと呼ばれ、『両』が『雨』となった」など、諸説あります。山頂は360度の大展望となっており、7月には山頂下の広大な笹原の道「笹平」に高山植物が開花し、お花畑となります。 Mount Amakazari (1,963m above sea level) is located on the border between Otari Village, Nagano Prefecture, and Itoigawa City, Niigata Prefecture, at the western end of the Myoko mountain range. Its twin peaks—the southern peak, home to a triangulation point and guideposts, and the northern peak, home to a stone Buddha statue and a shrine—make it a popular destination for climbers. The mountain's appealing name, "Amakazari," and its beautiful appearance from any angle make it a popular choice for climbers. There are various theories about the origin of the name, including that it is a mountain dedicated to rain and heaven, or that the mountain was given the names Ryokazariyama and Ryoshozan due to its twin peaks, with "ryo" ("both") becoming "rain."
