Philmont 2025: Our High Adventure Trek Experience

Philmont Scout Ranch is known as the "Mecca of Scouting" for the BSA and a place where scouts and adult leaders can conquer their "personal impossibles". It is considered "High Adventure" and is a life-long dream for some to experience. For us, Crew 56 out of Louisville, Kentucky, we were fortunate enough to be accepted in to the 12-day hiking trek course - this path was through the Rocky Mountains in New Mexico and required us to carrying all our supplies including food, water, shelter, and clothing for all the elements. Prior to departure, we tried to find videos that would give us a better idea of what we could expect on this trip, but time and again, we came up empty-handed. So we decided, as best we could with what we had, to chronicle our own journey - from our driveway in Louisville, KY to the train station, to headquarters (base camp) and all the way back to the train home with everything in between. We hope it gives some other crews a good idea of what to expect and that it also serves to remind us of all we experienced while we were there.
