Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Any% Glitchless Speedrun in 6:49:11

Fastest time at the time of recording FANTASTIC run through and through, though the ending was a bit sloppy. I definitely want to try and beat this, but with the length it's a hard one to fit into the schedule. Hopefully I can do more runs this weekend This run has some big RNG sections during the Battle Zones, where the cards and opponents you find really dictate how much time you spend doing them. The later ones (Rank F to A) are the most important, and while none of them went badly, I wouldn't say any were absurdly good either. All of the late zones were just solid overall. If I could replicate that every run, I'd be so happy. I did lost a bit of time to my PB in the final (Rank A) zone, as well as the mega rush and Ange Floette at the end, so sub 6:45 is on the horizon for sure Since my 7:11 (   • Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Any% Speedrun in 7:...  ), we have had a number of good improvements: Bois the Heracross is still the main, and we actually use them a bit more on the Rogue Megas. Previously, we used a Floette for Hawlucha, Altaria, and Dragonite, but now Hawlucha and Dragonite are done with Heracross Altaria is still a problem, and the current iteration catches a Weedle in WZ1 and uses Mega Beedrill. This was my first try with it and it went... ok. Could be better for sure Totodile over Tepig. Believe it or not, the 3 starters all get to Bois at roughly the same time (edge maybe to Tepig or Chikorita), so the choice comes down to strategy. Early Battle Zones can give you "Use Water/Fire/Grass" move cards, so having coverage is nice. Tepig unfortunately pulls double duty with Fletchling, a required catch, for Fire moves. Chikorita is solid (Leafage is physical, so the Tail Whips help both the base Tackle and the first STAB move unlike Tepig/Totodile), however we don't have a way to clear Sludge that is (currently) required to get to Dragonite. Totodile gives us Water/Dragon coverage, and we catch a Spinarak for Grass, Poison, Psychic and Ghost coverage. Leer on Rogue Megas. Holy moly, this one hits hard. Before we were just Swords Dancing, but if you both increase your Attack AND lower their Defense, they just melt. Check out something like Slowbro if you don't believe me The route is getting more and more refined, but nothing is set in stone for sure. Before anyone asks, I think sub 6:40 is a fantastic run with what we know right now, and sub 6 is impossible. Who knows though, maybe we learn something that breaks things wide open! --- Join the Switch PSR Discord if you want to get into speedrunning the Switch Pokémon games:   / discord   --- I stream live on Twitch!
